The US FDA Has Published Two Final Bills On The Labeling Of Nutrients

On May 27, 2016, the US FDA published two final bills on the labeling of nutrients in the Federal Register. (1) Food Labeling: A revised version of the Nutrition and Supplementary Ingredient Labeling (Ingredient Labeling Act). (2) Food label: the dose of food that can be ingested at one meal; double-column label; update, modification and establishment of specific reference amount; general consumption; dosage of mints used; (Food Consumption Act).

       

◆ The FDA said the main purpose of the revision bill is to unify current nutritional health data and product claims from the American Medical Research Institute (IMO) Dietary Reference Intake Report and the 2010 and 2015 American Dietary Guidelines.

    

◆ The two new bills will take effect on June 26, 2016. Food producers with annual sales of more than $10 million must produce in strict accordance with the new bill regulations by June 26, 2018; annual sales The deadline for food manufacturers with less than $10 million is June 26, 2019.
